Cloud Computing

Welcome to the Out Of Our Minds cloud computing lab!

Here, it is all about modelling language learning, with the use of a particular learning algorithm - the famous Rescorla-Wagner or Widrow-Hoff learning rule.

Please, if you use our infrastructure in your research (presentation or publication) cite the following publications.

Now, choose your task and have some fun:

  • Online Learning — Run small to mid-size training sessions on language learning problems of your choice. Click "Online learning" for instructions.
  • Pretrained Word Vectors — Access distributed semantic word representations for English and Polish (vectors or embeddings). Click "Pretrained Word Representations" and follow the instructions.

You need to log in to use the cloud computing functionality.

The Out of Our Minds Cloud Computing service was financially supported by the Leverhulme Trust (award number RL-2016-001). Prof Petar Milin developed the MATLAB (learning algorithm) and Python (data wrangling) code. Dr Michael Croucher from MathWorks streamlined the MATLAB code and prepared it for deployment and installation on the University server. The set-up of the service was supported by members of the University of Birmingham Research Software Group: Dr Mohammad Afraz Ahmed, Michael Allaway, and Dr James Tyrrell. User instructions were provided by Dr Laurence Romain, Prof Dagmar Divjak, and Prof Petar Milin.
