Yani holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Nanjing University Jinling College in China and a Master’s degree in TESOL from the University of Edinburgh.

Yani is interested in second language acquisition, cognitive processing, and usage-based approaches in language learning. Her project investigates how Chinese learners of English understand and process phrasal verbs, using eye-tracking to explore the real-time challenges they face.
