Qiaoling Ye is a PhD student in English Language and Applied Linguistics at the University of Birmingham and part of PhD Students for Out Of Our Minds.

Qiaoling got her Bachelor’s degree in English Teaching in China. After that, she finished an MA in TESOL at the University of Southampton in 2020, and another MA study in Education at the University of York in 2021.

Qiaoling aims to produce effective grammar instruction for the classroom of English as L2. Specifically, she focuses on the differences between the English tense system and the Chinese system that is used to express temporal information. She is interested in how Chinese learners of English process tense and aspect during reading, and what kinds of instruction can optimise their eye-movements.
