Ms Sumaya Kassim
Sumaya Kassim is a writer, editor and curator. She is one of the co-curators of the ground-breaking exhibition ‘The Past is Now: Birmingham & Empire’ (2017-2018) and wrote the essay ‘The museum will not be decolonised’ (Media Diversified, 2017) exploring this experience which was made into a short film. She mostly writes fiction, but her research interests include the body, the slippage between race and religion, institutional critique, the novel and anything Talal Asad writes. She is the prose editor for Middleground Magazine, a literary magazine for writers of mixed heritage, and is currently writing a film script and a novel.
Sumaya will be helping to disseminate OOOM’s findings to the general public through a variety of media.
